What is City of Craft?
That's a very good question. The short answer is that City of Craft is both a small collective that presents and supports Toronto crafty activities and a large-scale annual craft fair and exhibition. The long answer is here.

How many participants are there at City of Craft?
Between vendors, communtiy exhibitors and installation operators we had about 60 organisations, businesses and individuals participating in City of Craft in 2007.

Depending on partnerships we are working on with surrounding galleries and businesses, we expect about the same (or slightly more) participants in 2008.

How many years has City of Craft been happening?
This will be year two. 2007 was our first year.

How do I apply?
Hey, guess what? We made a whole section full of specific faq's just for that. Go there!

How are participants selected?
All of our events are programmed in different ways - some are curated and invitational (sometimes programmed by guest curators), some are lotteries, some are free-for-alls. The big winter show, however, is juried by the City of Craft collective (Jen, Becky & Leah) and invited guests. In the name of full disclosure, it should be said that the collective member's life partners also get automatic acceptance for living with City of Craft all over their homes for months. Some installation artists are also negotiated with outside of an application process.

Do you need volunteers? And can I be one?
We sure do! There are all sorts of volunteer jobs up for grabs from postering to set-up to consessions and more! Please email cityofcraft@gmail.com if you are interested in volunteering. We'd love to have you!
